whale day facebook 2016 Help Celebrate 10 years of our Whale Mural Postponed til 27th August!

Apologies on behalf of British Weather – we are postponing  our event until the 27th August as John would find it very difficult to paint a mural in 40 mph winds – not to mention the rain!

Its 10 years since artist John Ives painted the Whale Mural, on the side of our building in Titchbourne Street, to help raise awareness of the plight of Whales. On the 20th August we will be holding a day of activities to celebrate the wonderful creatures found in our Oceans and the responsibility we have to try to protect them.  John will be refreshing his mural and starting another on the back wall of our building. We will also have competitions, face painting, clay and painting workshops – so come and have fun!

We know that over the last 10 years thousands of you have taken photos of the Whale Mural.  We would love to see your pictures! Tag your whale pictures with a chance to win a £25 voucher.  If you are not local then you can exchange this for a John Ives Whale print. The winner will be chosen by John on the 20th. You will need to follow us on Instagram.

Come and join us for March of the Mermaids from 11am on July 23rd at Hove Seafront.  We have teamed up with Whalefest to celebrate the wonderful creatures in our Oceans. We will be helping them raise funds for the World Cetacean Alliance. There will be plenty of beautiful creatures to paint and take home. John Ives who painted our Whale Mural will also be with us. There will be lots of opportunities to win some great prizes.

Please keep another date in your diaries – 20th August at the shop.  John will be exhibiting his work in August and on the 20th August will be refreshing his mural and talking about his Whale Adventures and the work that he does to try to raise awareness of their plight.

Now that summer time is here – although the weather hasn’t quite caught up – we are welcoming pottery painters from around the world.  This time our guests were from St.Giles International Language School.  Every year they have lovely families visiting Brighton.  Fortunately for us pottery painting is one of their favourite activities!

The lengths we go to ……..or we get other people to go to!  This is Alice in the throws of replacing elements in the kiln to ensure even firing.  This results in a better finish of both colour and shine. Well we hope so! Monday should reveal all.
