Inspiration: Under the Sea

As you may have noticed from our giant mural, cupboard doors, and various pieces of pottery dotted around the shop, we love whales! 🐋 We’re not biased, though, we do love other sea animals too. 🐠🐙🐬 And mermaids. And pirate ships. In truth, we’re very loyal to our Brighton beach-lovin’ bones! 🌊🐚 That’s why we’ve put together a small gallery of some of our favourite ocean-themed pieces for your perusal.

Inspiration: Florals for Spring

In the words of Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada… “Groundbreaking”.

But that’s just us getting our sass on. 💅

Really, we love seeing your love for plants and flowers! 🌸🌿 Here’s our weekly round up of inspiration for you, this time themed around the glory of Mother Nature.

Psst, if you really like those lil bees towards the end, be sure to check out our birds and bees inspiration post from earlier this year! 🐝

Inspiration: Out of This World

Our planet is beautiful, but sometimes you just need to go bigger with your inspiration! Space-themed pottery always looks fabulous, so why not be brave and head to infinity, and beyond! 👽 Here are a few pieces to put some fuel in your creative lil spaceship.

Inspiration: Patterns Patterns Everywhere

Humans love patterns: they allow us to predict and expect what is coming, which our brains really appreciate. Feast your eyes on these repetitive beauties, in every array of colours! One even looks like it’s been inspired by our favourite emoji, the Greek Amphora! 🏺

Inspiration: Go Wild

We started this inspiration series with our fave pets, so we thought we’d step out into the wild with this post and have a look at which animals have inspired previous painters. 🐅 🐘 🐍 Whether it’s a safari, a jungle, or a good ol’ forest, animals from any environment always look fantastic on pottery.

If you’re looking for something a bit more soggy, be sure to check out the ‘Under the Sea’ post coming soon in this Inspiration series! 🐳

So, if you want to paint something for your mum or dad to show your love instead, or for your little one, or for your pet, your plants, your uncle, your cousin, or you just want to show off your love of Harry Potter, we’ve got you covered! Take a peek below to see how our lovely customers have demonstrated their love in many beautiful ways.

Inspiration: The Birds and the Bees

You guys sure do love painting nature, and we sure do love encouraging you to do so! Two themes that pop up quite a lot are beautiful colourful birds and adorable fuzzy bees. 🐝🕊️ Below, we’ve put together a selection of our favourite examples of our little winged pals from our Facebook Hall of Fame.

Inspiration: Puppy and Kitty Love

Here at the Painting Pottery Cafe, there is a very firm divide between cat and dog people. 🐱🐶🐕🐈 We’ve noticed that our customers follow this divide, too, and often want to paint lovely portraits of their pets. Just in case you’re looking to do something similar, here are a few of our favourite examples from recent years!

Artist Spotlight: Star Pottery

We thought we’d been around a while (this year marks our 20th Anniversary), but Mohamed Hamid and his associates have been around for even longer - a whopping 30 years! In that time they’ve perfected a style which we love, based around beautiful colours and brushy marks.

Evening Classes

Psst, have you heard? 🗣️ We’ve just updated our evening class list for the next 5 months! 🏺 Be sure to grab your tickets while they’re still available - the last few months have been sold out! Here’s a round up of what you can expect before 2019 is out, with a few examples to whet your appetite and inspire your creativity!
